A Search for the Impossible – Curing an Hangover
Ok so you’ve partied hard all night … And you’ve had a ball of a time … And now you’ve gotten home and the next morning hell breaks out … Gotten the picture right ????
I guess you’ve gotten the picture straight but for all those innocent people who havent I’m talking about hangovers
and my ever elusive search to find out the best way to cure them
“A wise crack told me “Prevention is Better than Cure” ,instead of waking up the next day trying to cure your headache why don’t you cure it the previous night itself by going clean “
I won’t comment on that …

Here I’ve complied a list of hangover cures that are bound to work, stick to this and your bound not to land up with anymore hangovers (or rather atlst reduce their intensity)
However,if you find yourself running to find a hangover cure every second day, I think the best thing for you to do would be to contact Alcoholic Anonymous (I’m sorry Tijo but I couldn’t find any better way to break the news to you)
Hangovers are a mild version of the withdrawal symptom suffered by Alcoholics (if this is mild, imagining the original withdrawal symptoms, omg who would wanna give up ??? ).Alcohol relaxes the blood vessels allowing more blood to circulate around the body.This makes people who drink feel warm, but, if they drink too much the blood vessels can open too wide, causing nerve activity and pain.Free radicals are unbalanced atoms created when your body processes alcohol. When your system tries to dilute the number of free radicals by drawing fluid out of healthy cells, you get dehydrated hence urination
Different people get a hangover drinking different kinds of spirit and certainly choosing the right type of liquor does play an important role in determining the intensity of your hangover (But CERTAINLY three vodka shots, a shot of whiskey, two tequila’s, a couple of glasses of wine and a couple of bottles of beer will do it every time) Generally,darker drinks such as red wine, brandy and port tend to have more congeners than white wine, gin and vodka.Champagne is particularly risky as the bubbles speed up the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream.
Generally the intensity of your hangover depends on three factors
- The quantity
- Ability to digest alcohol (and weight)
- Age
Things to remember while drinking to reduce a hangover are to reduce dehydration as much as possible (always works for me !!!! ) Keep drinking plenty of water even though you keep going to the toilet to pee …. But keep at it
Other helpful tips
* Never drink on an empty stomach
* NO cigarettes ;smoking makes you thirsty
* Alternate some soft drinks with the alcoholic ones;
* In the morning,avoid drinking coffee as this increases dehydration;
* avoid “hair of the dog” cures which involve drinking more alcohol
Now to what I’ve been after for so long … curing alcoholic hangovers
Tijo uses the tactical vomit trick,plus it also has the added bonus of allowing you to consume more alcohol than you would normally be able to. The only known side effect is a that your mouth taste of vomit for the remainder of the drinking time which is fine for you as by that stage you have lost all sense of taste but not so pleasant for those in your proximity.
Before you go to bed take any headache pill that is made of Ibuprofen.Aspirin does not help.Neither does Tylenol.Tylenol will destroy your liver if combined with alcohol
Choose your booze with care
Try controlling the rate at which you drink (not recommended by me),this givs your liver a better chance to break down the alcohol
Try taking a multi-vitamin to replace all the Vitamin B you’ve pissed out
Finally if none of them work,you can always try what the Peurto Ricans do .. rub a lemon under your armpits !!!!
